2nd Sunday of the Year

Parish message of the week:

  1. We wish to draw your attention to the Diocesan Directives for the Lunar New Year this year, which begins on Sunday 7 February 2016. Our Mass that day will be the Thanksgiving Mass for the Lunar New Year.
  2.  Ash Wednesday, 8 February 2016, which is during the Lunar New Year festivities, in accordance with the diocesan practice, all the faithful are dispensed from Fasting and Abstinence on that day, but they are still obliged to choose some other suitable form of penance, and almsgiving, such as making a donation to the poor, as required by the penitential spirit of the Season of Lent.
  3. The Catholic Church and the other Churches and Ecclesial Communities will jointly celebrate the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity from 18 January. The Theme for this year is “Called to proclaim the mighty acts of the Lord”. Please pray for this intention.
  4. Charitable cookies from “Helping Hand” are available on Sunday 17 January 2016; please buy cookies and give a “helping hand” to the elderly.
